The New Milton, Barton-on-Sea & District Residents' Association : NEMBRA
Our Aims and Objectives
- To use our best endeavours within the constraints of existing legislation to protect the character of the town and the quality of its environment.
- To seek to ensure, with members' support, that any new development is compatible with that objective.
- To encourage the maintenance and improvement of local amenities.
- To promote care in the community and awareness of the needs of others.
- To provide a forum where members can express their views and concerns publicly.
Development of the Association
The Association was started by a group of Community-minded individuals back in 1905 and today enjoys a membership of over 3,500 households representing a large proportion of the residents in the area. It is currently run by a group of 12 Office Bearers and Committee Members.
FOCUS - The magazine of the Association was started in January 1963 and it quickly became very popular. Its prime objectives were to maintain regular contact with members and to stimulate an active interest in matters of local concern. Focus continues to go from strength to strength some 570 issues later !!.
